Ch 6

He had wings on his back, no not tattooed on his back, but actual wings coming out of his back. He turned around slowly and looked at me with so much sadness in his eyes. “So you’re a—“ “Angel?” “Yeah that.” “I don’t know if I am or not. Things aren’t always what they seem to appear. You see I got my wings on my fourteenth birthday and my parents weren’t sure why and so they kicked me out. Hayden you have to understand I am still me I am still the Anthony who loves you it just I have wings and I am not sure why I do. I have found others like me but I never stayed with them for they had no answers for so I came here where people don’t seem to ask question and nothing ever happens that is until you came here.” He stared at me, “Why are you staring at me like that?” “I don’t know it just things have really changed since you got here.” “Well I don’t know about that,” I laughed I was getting worried he told me his secret and he was different like me so why shouldn’t I tell him “ok the truth is you right about things not being as they appear. I am not as I appear.” “What do you mean?” “I mean I am not human or at least I don’t think I am because a normal person should not be able to do this.” I got up from the bed and I change in to wolf, then to Matt and then back into me. “So this is your real form right your not like some guy?” I laughed as I walked towards him “Yes this is the real me.” I walked right up to him and looked him the eyes. “I knew you were always more than what you seemed. I could see it in your eyes.” I laughed and looked at his wings, “Can I?” he nodded and I place my hand on his wing and it was so amazing the feathers were so hard yet so soft and it was like nothing I could ever dream of. I traced his wing to back and trace the space where it connected. “I guess we are meant to be, I mean look at us to different beings neither of us human we shouldn’t we be together,” I looked into eyes but there was something different like they were hiding something “unless there is something your not telling me.” “You know how I said things are not as they appear I wasn’t just speaking about me.” “You weren’t?” “He doesn’t know I know but William isn’t human either.” “What! He’s not?” “No he is not, he is a vampire.” “He is a what! He is a vampire?” “Yes when he attacked me that was how I knew for sure. And when Alex went missing I knew he had something to do with it.” “All this time he could have killed me. Is he behind the missing people?” “Yes he is, I try to stop them from going into the woods when I know he is going hunting but they didn’t listen and they got killed and he hid there remains over the mountains.” “But doesn’t the sun kill him?” “No not here it is very weak because of all the trees and it only hurts him if he is out to much in it when there is nothing blocking it then it could hurt him enough to kill him. Listen he is not a bad guy it just when he gets thirsty he can’t control himself and after he feeds he back to normal just not for a couple of days. When he went over here last night I was worried that he would have killed you he hasn’t been eating lately except for Alex and I think he is saving his thirst for you.” “Me.” He nodded then he drew me close to him looked in my eyes and spoke “I will never let him hurt you ever even if that means I have to watch his every move and stay here with you.” “How fast can you have your stuff moved in?” I laughed but I really did want him here though. “If you really mean that I could be all moved in by noon today.” I looked him in the eyes and nodded my head. He kissed my cheek and hugged me. We went back to the bed and he kept his shirt and coat off and laid next to me. We were under the same covers this time and I reached over and turned off the light. He wrapped his arms around my chest and then wrapped his wings around our bodies. My eyes shut as he hummed a sweet soft melody and I drifted into a slumber.

Five

I woke to the sound of pounding on my door. I got up and look outside the streets were almost flooded. I ran to the door and opened it and as soon as I did Anthony fell in on top of me. I looked up and his eyes were closed and he had cuts and bruises all over. I picked myself up and pulled him up and set him on the couch. I ran to the bathroom and got towels and bowl and filled it with hot water. I ran back to Anthony who was still unconscious, I sat beside him and place the first towel on his arm. I tried to take off his coat but then he sat straight up and grabbed my neck. He looked into my eyes and relaxed his grip and lowered his hand and then fell back over. Ok now I know not to touch his coat. I rolled up his sleeve and bandaged up the wounds. I went to the kitchen and boil more water, I heard a moan over my shoulder and I looked to see Anthony trying to sit up again, I turned off the flame and rushed over to him. I sat beside him and helped him up slowly, “What happened to you,” I looked at the clock it was 3 in the morning. “Who did this?” “Do you even have to ask?” He looked into my eyes, “No, he couldn’t have not William.” “Oh trust me he could,” he mumbled something under his breath but I couldn’t make it out. “He was upset with you and was even more upset I went over to your apartment to make sure you were alright. He was eyeing me the entire time at work and when we were walking home he attacked me. I ran into the woods and that was an even worse idea, he found me there and he attacked me there. I laid there for an hour pretending to be dead so that he would leave, I heard him say something about you and so as soon as I knew he was gone I came here and that is it.” “Oh my, are you alright?” “Yeah I am alright now thanks to you, and sorry about earlier with the whole choking you thing I just it is a reaction I have when anyone does that to me.” “It is ok.”
We sat there in silence for a while and then he asked, “So what are you going to do?” “What do you mean? Are you talking about William?” “Yes I am, I don’t want to see you get hurt and if you break up with him he might hurt you and if you don’t he still might.” “I don’t know, I think I might have to break up with him because of what he did, and what he will keep on doing if I continue to go out with him. You mention something about him talking about me?” “Yes I did I think he might come here which is why I came here to make sure you were alright.” “Well he hasn’t come yet…” “Hayden I think I should stay the night, just to make sure he doesn’t come, I will sleep on the couch.” “Don’t be silly, your hurt and you need you rest if anything your sleeping in my bed and I am sleeping on the couch.” “It is your place and you’re sleeping in your own bed.” “There is only one thing to do then.” I laughed he looked at me in confusion “And what is that?” “We both sleep in my bed,” he looked at me in shock “under different covers of course.” “Of course” he laughed. We headed to the bedroom and I rushed to the front door and locked it and rushed right back. “Aren’t you going to take off your coat?” “No I rather not.” “Ok.” I went to the closet and got the more blankets and spread them on the bed. He went under his and I went under mine. I turned off the light next to me.
“Can I ask you something?” I turned to him and then he turn to me to answer. “Sure what is on your mind Hayden?” “We are friends right?” “Right.” “Well do you think as me as only a friend or more.” I could see the color on his face brighten “Well your like my best friend and,” there was a moment of silence “I have always liked you well, more like loved you.” “Loved! Why didn’t you ever say anything?” “Because you were with William and he was my best friend and I didn’t want to come between it.” “Well I got some thing to tell you.” “And what is that?” I brushed his hair away from his perfect face and said, “I wanted you first.” “What!?” “In the beginning I wanted you first but you never really showed any interest.” He cheeks shown bright red and I could see then perfectly even though it was pitch black. “So as you can guess Anthony I love you too.” I scooted closer to him and kissed is perfectly shaped lips. He pulled me in closer to where we were chest to chest. His arm wrapped around my body and slide up and down my back. Our kiss broke and I placed my head against his chest. “You trust me right?” “With every ounce of my being.” “Alright then I have to ask you something.” “Oh and what is that?” “What is with the coat?” “What? What do you mean?” “I mean why is it you never take it off?” “Because.” “Because why? You said you trusted me. What is it some horrible scar? What ever it is I promise it will not change how I feel about you.” “You promise?” “I promise with every ounce of my being.” “Ok it is hiding something.” “What?” “I will show you if you don’t scream.” “I won’t I promise you.” “Ok then turn on the lights.” I rolled over and turned on the light. He sat up and then stood and unbuttoned his shirt and then turned his back to me. I never realized how long the coat was. Then he pulled one arm out than the other and then dropped his shirt and his coat down to the ground. I sat the in amazement and just stared at him with an opened mouth.

Ch 3

My alarm went off and I got up to see what was on the news. Nothing as usual, I headed down to see if I had gotten any bills yet, there was none but there was an envelope with my name I ask the lady who worked there if she saw who dropped it off she said it was very late she couldn’t make out a face. I went up to room and open it, inside were newspaper articles of the strange disappearances and the sightings. There was a note attached to it.

Hayden, I heard you were looking for information on this. This is all you will find, and you won’t ask any more questions if you know what is good for you.
A friend

A friend, oh yeah like this person really is my friend. I studied the articles and but them into my notebook. I headed out to look around the town some more. It was a quite town nothing ever seems to be going on. I walked around and headed to the houses to see if anything was going on there. I was walking down the street and then I heard someone call my name, I turned around and saw William waving at me. We met each other and started to walk to the little park near by. “So how do you like it hear so far?” “It is nice, really quite though. Nothing really seems to be going on here.” “Yeah it has been like that for awhile now. So has anyone caught your eye yet?” he gave me a smirk. “No, not really.” I looked away. “Oh we’ll have to fix that now won’t we.” He said laughing and we kept on walking then we got to a bench. “William would know of anyone that would want to stop people from finding out more about this place?” “No, why is someone threatening you?” “Oh no, I was just making sure.” He grabbed my hand and held it and looked into my eyes, his hands were kind of cold and his eyes felt so luring. “If anyone is threatening you tell me, I don’t want you to get hurt.” “Oh no, no one has like I said.” It doesn’t help since I don’t know who it is. He still held on to my hand as we talked.
It was getting late and we had work in about an hour so he walked me to the bar. As we walked in Anthony seemed kind of upset about me and William holding hands. I walked over and got my stuff and got to work. Work went by really fast to day and Matt didn’t try anything today. When work was over I put my stuff back and William asked to walk me home. “Like I told Anthony yesterday I live right over there I will be fine.” “Yeah but you didn’t have someone threatening you then so I would feel better if I did.” “Fine.” He walked with me across the street and I opened the door to the apartments and said, “Ok you walked me bye.” “Well what about to your door to your room someone could be in the building?” “Oh fine.” He walked with me up the door and I said goodbye and he kissed me on the corner of my lip and it felt strangely cold. I entered in to my room and closed the door. I walked to my window and saw him walk away. I closed the blinds and went to bed.

Ch 4

I woke up around 10:00 since I forgot to set my alarm. I got ready and headed to store get a phone. I walked to the store and got a land phone for the room and a cell phone for me. I walked back to room but got stopped by the lady at the front desk “There is a package for you here.” She pointed to the one on the floor “Thanks” I picked it up and brought it back to the room. I set up the phone and open the package. Inside was a rose and a note attached to it, it said
I really enjoy spending time with you please meet me at the local diner for lunch my treat.
From William

Wait that is in about an hour oh crap! I hurried to the diner and saw him sitting there; he looked up and waved me over. I went over to the booth and sat down. “I thought weren’t going to show.” “Sorry I just got back in and there was the package.” The waitress came around ask what we wanted. I ordered a salad and he order water he said he ate before he came. Which confused me but oh well. We talked about work and how crazy it can be. He asked me what I did before I came here. “Well I used to live in the Europe until this year. I traveled a lot because my parents kicked me out once I turned fifteen.” “Wow why did they kick you out?” I froze I couldn’t tell him the truth so I just said it was complicated. I finished eating and thanked him. Things went as they usually did I went home and read more about the town and got ready for work. When I went downstairs there was an envelope in my box I opened it and all it said was things aren’t always like they seem. I put in my backpack and went to work. The entire time that was on my mind; every time I looked at William I wondered if it was about him or if he had been the one who sent it. I got done with work and William walked me home again. We go to the door and he kissed me goodbye and asked if we could start going out and I said sure. I got in and put the letter in my notebook. I went to the window and looked out into the town could I not be the only one? I went to bed and the phrase repeated in my head over and over.

My alarm went off at 7:00 today and I rolled over and looked at a picture of William and me. Things have been going great between us except that he has a temper on him. He gets really mad when guys flirt with me and he can be kind of dirty sometimes. Sometimes I feel like he isn’t telling me the whole truth I can’t blame him I’m not telling him a lot either. I got up and got ready for the day ahead. Anthony and I are going to catch a movie with some of his friends. Anthony and I are getting along great he is like my best friend now. Sometimes I can tell he envies William since him and me are going out now. I headed over to the movie theater and there was Anthony with Matt and two other guys I have seen just never met, he introduced me to them there names were Brian and James both were very tall and blonde. We headed inside and got our seats and of course it was some horror film I guess those are Matt’s favorites. This was about a vampire and angel who are best friends that fall in love with the same person and have a fight. It was really gruesome movie. We got out and I said my goodbyes and headed over to Williams. I was walking by and I heard a scream except it was animal not human so I didn’t worry about it and kept on walking. I got to his house and knock on his door I waited about two minutes and was about to leave when the door opened. “Hayden what are you doing here?” “I come here every Friday before work remember you’re the one who thought of this.” I pushed through the door and the room was very dark I turned on one of the far lights and saw that the place was trashed. I turned to William and he had a red stain on the caller of his shirt. I walked towards him and place my hand on it “Oh did you hurt yourself or something?” “No! No I did not hurt myself I was cutting meat and it got on me.” “Ok! Sorry I ask.” This is what I was talking about there were days like this before but most the time he was very charming and sweet. “So did you throw a party or something?” “What?” I held up a couple pieces of his clothing that was lying on the floor. “Oh that I was…looking for something.” “Oh I see ok.” He cleared the couch and we sat down on it. He apologized for acting the way he did he just get really edgy on certain days. I told it was ok it happens to all of us. He smiled and I just melted because time he does that it is always such a perfect smile. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. His breath was cool and he grabbed my hips and pulled me in closer.
Then my alarm went off on my phone and scared us both. I looked down at it and it was time for work. I got up and pulled him up and we walked to work. We be walking and randomly he bump into me and start laughing, then he would pulled me in to tell me something and he would just whisper hi. We got to work and things went pretty well guys still tried to grab my ass but that was normal working there. Matt stayed clear of me because William was keeping a close eye on him as usual. A rush came in today of like ten guys from a college or something and the worst part was I knew one. Alex Kingsbury six foot, athletic, red hair and brown eyes not to mention my old neighbor/flame. This was not good because he might know something about me being a shape shifter. I walked pass him and went to bus a table at the other side of the bar. Hours passed and no word from him was going well until I heard one phrase “Can I get a refill?” I looked over and Alex was holding up his cup. I walked over looking if Matt was anywhere and of course he was flirting with every girl in the bar. I took his cup and turned around quickly. I walked up to William to get the refill and I walked back to Alex. I set it down and before I could walk away he said, “Hey do I know you?” “No, no you don’t” “Yeah, yeah I do you’re Hayden right? Yeah you’re Hayden from next-door back in London.” “Yes I am ok? Now leave me be.” “What no kiss for your old flame?” “I do believe she said to leave her be.” Anthony came from behind him and put his hand on his shoulder. “Oh and what are you her bloody boyfriend?” “No that would be me.” William came from the other side of Anthony. “Oh. Well I think I will be going now.” Then Alex ran out of the bar. They went back to the counter I walk over there and said thanks. The rest of the time things were pretty quite. I got off work and walk home, this time with me wanting William to be there. We got to the door and he asked if I wanted him to stay the night and I said no. I don’t do sleep over with guys so he leaned in and kissed my cheek. I walked inside, closed the door and locked it behind me. I walked to my bed and went to sleep.

So I am in the process of writing a story and here is the first few chapters so far. It is still in the think process...

Ch 1

I stood there looking out to the ocean could I be the only one left, was there no one left of my kind. For those of you who do not know who I am here is the low down. I am Hayden Green I used to live in London, England until two years ago when my parents kicked me out of my home I was seventeen. You know how people all have their little quirks well I have a very big one. I found out when I was fourteen that I was not like every other teenage girl in my school, I found out one day in health class I was a shape shifter when I turned into a girl named Amy who I could not stand so there I was pretending to act just like her when I well turned into her. From then on my parents really tried to love me the same but they could seem to get pass that, so they kicked me out like I said. In those two years of living on my own I travel all of the Middle East trying to find those like me but I failed to do so. While on my journey I found out more about my powers I learned that I could turn into anyone or any living thing I have ever ran across. For those of you wondering what I really look like in my regular body I am 5’8”, I have an average body, I am very fair in tone, I have long chocolate brown wavy hair that goes at least seven inches past my shoulders, and I have evergreen colored eyes with a tint of blue.
Now to the task at hand, I have failed and now I am going to try my luck in America. I turned into a dolphin and made my way there. So many thoughts rushed through head like am I truly the only one left, and if I do find my kind will I like them or better yet will they like me and how will I know if I find them? I guess the thinking made me loose track of time because before I knew it I have hit ground on a beach. I turn back in to my regular self and I walked through a town. I looked at a newspaper and I was title Maine which was in the US I couldn’t believe I had made it there so fast it took days but I didn’t even realize it. It was dark and I headed into an inn and ask the front desk if they had heard of any strange things happening in these parts. The man at the desk answer me back with a weird look on his face he said “No. I haven’t heard of any strange things happening in this part of Maine. But I would strongly suggest you look in the town called Jackman. I always hear stories of people going missing it helps since it is very close to the mountains and it is heavily forested by the mountains.” “Thanks.” I asked for a room and stayed the night.

Ch 2

I woke and headed down the stairs and checked out. I asked if there were any stores around to buy supplies and clothes. He said there was one across the street, I headed in there and bought a backpack some clothes and the supplies I needed to get me by. I headed the farthest part of the town and then turn into a wolf and ran as fast I could to Jackman. I got there in a matter of hours the place was surrounded by woods and was very dim in light and I looked for an apartment that was available and there were very few. I headed to the apartment and made a deal with the owner. Now all I need to do is to get money and find my kind. I walked to the nearest bank and I know robbing a bank is something we aren’t suppose to do and I was raised better but once I find a job I would pay them back. I walked in and looked around I saw the vault and I walked towards it and turned in to a mouse so I could get inside fast. I sat behind a desk waiting and then someone came towards it and opened it and put the money in it. I made my way fast and got in I turned in to a girl I saw in Russia and I put a mask on. I stuff and a lot of fives, tens, and twenties into a bag and grab a few more of the higher stuff and a hand full of ones. I hid behind the door till the next person came to bring more in then I made a run for. People were screaming a yelling all over the place. I ran out of the bank and to the back of my apartment and dropped the bag in the bushes and kept running they didn’t see me drop the bag and kept on chasing me. I ran into the trees and then turned back into myself. I walked along a trail and the came running through asking if I had seen anyone I told them I hadn’t.
I made it back to the spot where I dropped the money and put into my backpack. I walked to the store and bought stuff for my apartment and brought it in. I checked into the police station to check what the man at the inn said was true. They told me that it had been pretty normal till this year when they found a lot of the people walking into the woods then not come out. The deer population has gone down in great numbers and people have reported seeing weird things like large birds. He warned me not to go looking for trouble because I would surely find it.
I headed out of the station and I headed back to the apartment and was observing the area. None of those things seemed like my kind would cause them but you never know. I looked around at the people and none of them looked very special but then I saw these two guys talking and they looked nothing like the people around them. The first one was pale very tall and skinny, he had face eating black hair and crystal blue eyes he looked like he could be twenty-two. The other look like he could be twenty-one he was more average he was around my height from what I could see, he had shaggy brown hair, and greenish blue eyes. They looked too perfect to fit in with the world around them. They stopped talking and looked straight at me as if they knew I was staring at them. I looked away quickly and kept on walking. I walked into the town service building to see if there were any available jobs, the secretary said there was only one that was a busboy at the local bar, and I told her I would take it. She handed me the form I had to fill out and I headed over to the bar and spoke to the manger and gave him the form and he gave me the job, he warned me I would be working three other guys no girls I told I didn’t mind. I walked out the office then I he yelled my name “Hayden can you start tonight?” I turned and nodded. He handed me my uniform and said to be back in about two hours. I went back to my apartment and got ready.
I walked down the stairs and out the door. Luckily the bar was right across the street. I walked in punch in my card, I walked over to another worker he looked like the other busboy. “Hi I am Hayden. I am new here what exactly do we do?” the guy turned he had blonde hair blue-gray eyes and he towered over me “Oh well it is quite simple use just wash of the tables and take peoples drinks if they want refills. By the way I am Matt, Matt Smith. I have seen you around just lately are you new to town?” “Yes I am. Is it obvious?” “Not really, it just I new I wouldn’t have missed such a pretty face before.” “I am going to go bus some tables see ya.” I walked over the counter and got a rag and I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned to see one of the guys from earlier the shorter one. “Don’t worry about Matt. He just has a way of flirting with every girl he meets even when they just move here. Hi I am Anthony, I saw earlier this evening.” “Oh really hmm I don’t recall seeing you.” A voice came from behind “Oh really well figuring you were staring at us I think you would,” It was his friend the tall one “by the way I am William if you wondering.” “Oh sorry my name is Hayden. Well I will be going now. I walked over to some tables and washed them off. Working defiantly had it lows like drunken guys grabbing at you. Most the time Anthony came over and took care of them. The shift was over quick and I punch out. I walked out and Anthony said he would see me tomorrow. Before he could leave I asked him a question “Do you know anything about the strange things going on here? You know have you heard of any people turning into thing?” “No. I haven’t ok! Why do people keep on asking me that?” “I am sorry I didn’t know you’ve been asked before, I figured you since you live in the area.” “Oh sorry. No I don’t because I just moved here little over a year ago.” “Well does William know?” “No he doesn’t because he moved here a month before I did.” “Oh ok. Thanks, bye” “Would you like me to walk you home? The streets aren’t safe for such a young lady as your self at this time of night seeing how we just kick out a bunch of drunks.” “I think I will be fine I live right across the street.” I pointed to the apartments “Oh well I guess that isn’t very far I would still feel better if I did.” “Come on Anthony she will be alright its not like there is a monster on the loose or anything.” William came from behind and put his hand on Anthony’s shoulder. I said goodbye and walked across the street to my apartment and wave because they still were standing there and they laughed and walked away. I went up the stairs and got in my room. I organize what information I gain today and put in a notebook. And then I headed into my room and went to bed.
