Ch 6
I woke up and I looked across the hall to see Alex sitting on his bed reading looked to be a comic of some sort. He looked up from the comic he was reading and looked over to my room. He smiled and then went back to his reading. I looked over to the clock that was on the stand next to the bed to see it was already 12:30 pm. Wow he must have been waiting for me to get up, I looked over to see him already dressed. I got up and closed the door to get dress then made my way down the hall to where the bathroom was to brush my teeth.I walked out of the bathroom to only run straight into Aden, “Just can’t keep your hands off me huh?” “You pig.” I pushed pasted him just to run into Alex next, “Didn’t you learn lesson from last night Aden?” “Oh that was just a little fun.” “Fun for who Aden, for you or her?” “Hey who is the one she ditched on the plane?” “I didn’t ditch you did I?” “Not really and even if you did, I forgave you.” “Oh how sweet but we all know how this going to go.” “Oh yeah and how is that Aden?” “You’re going to come to me like a moth to a flame. Once you have taken a taste of the bad side you’re going to come right back.” “Taste?” Alex looked at me, “Oh she didn’t tell you. We kissed.” “First off you forced yourself on me, second you missed and third I hit you in a certain place which was why you were on the ground in pain.” “You did what to her!” Alex was about to lunge at Aden when I pulled him back, “Alex, no don’t. He is not worth it.” “Fine, but listen here, if you ever touch her again I will come after you.”
He took my hand and led me down to the kitchen, “Why didn’t you tell me, I knew you didn’t want him to near you last night but you never said why?” “Because I didn’t want you to overreact and do something stupid, plus I can handle myself.” “Right” “What you don’t think I can?” “Sorry Hannah no, I don’t think so.” “Why?” “Well it not that I don’t think you can, but I think you wouldn’t last long. It is nothing personal it is just well never mind.” “Just what?” “It is nothing I just don’t want to see you get hurt.” “Alex I am bound to get hurt ok, my dad kind of left behind a mess that I have to help get him out of, but I think it is sweet that you are worried.” He smiled and blushed then pulled out a chair for me at the table. It smelled really good in there, I looked around and saw a large muscular man at the stove. Alex went over to him and started to talk to him. I heard a sneeze which made me jump out of my skin looked over to see the guy with the thick rim glasses fiddling around with a laptop next to me. “Morning Hannah, how did you sleep?” “Very well thanks.” “That is good to hear,” I smiled and started to fiddle with my necklace, “I see you are wearing the family crest.” “This?” I looked down to the weird symbol on the chain. “Yes it is the Conner family crest; your father wasn’t the only one in your family that was a thief.” “Really, can you tell me about my family?” “Yes I can, let see where to start. Well your father came from a long line of thieves, but then they got sloppy; your grandparents Beth and Chris left a trail and they found them.” “Who found them?” “The Vine Gang, a ruthless gang that competed with your family on heists. They kill your grandparents not knowing your father was in the other room hiding. Your father was sent to distant family until he was fifteen then he ran away, that is when he meet us. It was a rainy day, your father needed money, I needed food, Gabriel stole jewels for a girlfriend, and Michael needed meds, we were all running from the cops and ran into each other then help each other get away. Since then we have been best friends and watched over each other. We went on the greatest heist and adventures, and then Gabriel started to take things into his own hands. He tried to turn us against your father and almost did. We decided to kick him out while we were doing a job. Shortly after is when we meet your mom. Carmen was an inspector that seemed to be everywhere we were. There were times were we helped her but most the time she was trying to put your father in jail. Then one job changed everything, we assembled a huge group to take down Gabriel, and this is where I met my wife and same with Michael…but it didn’t end well. We all did our part and it was up to your father, there was a bang and we couldn’t find your father or Gabriel. That is until your mother’s promotion banquet, I was watching from a far and there stood your mother and your father. From what I had heard he had amnesia and didn’t remember anything or so we were led to thought, it turns out he remembers everything; and apparently Gabriel survived the blast as well and sent Penelope to look after your father and to take him away. So that is all I know of your father and this situation.” “And what of your wife I don’t see her here?” “Oh we aren’t together anymore, but you have met her though.” “Oh really who is she?” “Penelope was my wife.” “Wait what!” “She was wonderful but somehow Gabriel got to her and turned her against us. But that is over with for now.” “So now what do we do?” “Well continue with training and I will need you and Alex to run in town to a lecture that is being given. The lecture is at 3 pm so you have awhile to get ready.” “What is the lecture on?” “How to read people and someone’s life story which I think it be good for you two to hear.” “Well ok then.” I ate breakfast then got ready for our journey in town.
I walked down the hall to the door which we had entered from the day before, “Oh we are not going out that door.” I turned around to see Alex smiling at me, “Oh.” “Here let me lead you to the right door.” We walked back up the hall to the end to find another hallway leading to a single door at the end. Alex twisted the knob and opened the door. Outside was a balcony that looked over the small town that we were in. I looked to the right to see a winding staircase to the road. He led down the stairs and to the building across the street. He opened the door and there was a screen that was down and an overhead projector that was already showing a slide. We sat down at a table in the back of the room and soon after people started to flood into the room. The speaker walked in and started the lecture. The reading people’s faces and character part was fine and I kept interest but as soon as the speaker got to their story I was zoned out. I sat there watching the slides move, then I started to pay more attention to one thing more than the rest. I couldn’t help but happen to gaze over to my left at Alex quite often during this part of the lecture. It was like I couldn’t help to want to talk to him and pass a note like people would back in high school. He sat there paying attention completely to the speaker. It was obvious that I liked him and that those feelings were shared. We both knew the other knew, but it was like we didn’t know what to do about it. I had my left hand the table a mere inches away from his the entire lecture, just hoping that he would take it. But no that would be too easy. The lecture came to an end, and all I could recall was that the person had a couple rough years and then fate brought her (because well she was a girl) to meet her husband. And yeah that was all I could remember as we were leaving. “So what did you think?” “Wha-oh the lecture, I thought it was ok, how about you?” “I liked it actually.” “Well that is good.” We got back to the house and I went to my room to write about the day what I was feeling.
