Chapter 5
“So have you ever been there before?” “What?” I looked over at her in the passenger seat, “You know to ‘The Cheshire Cat’?” “Oh right, um no I haven’t ever been there before though I know I few people who have been there before. They all say a bunch of college students go there.” “Oh yummy.” “What?” “Oh nothing haha, I just like college boys they have a nice taste to them.” “Um ok.” “Look Veronica I know you’re a vampire.” “Wha—your crazy vampires don’t exist.” “Yeah they do, you’re one and your entire family too. Look don’t worry I am too, and so is my brother.” “Wait, how did you find out?” “Well your scent tells it all. Also your brother was a dead give away, his pick up lines were horrible and screamed vampire.” “What did you mean by my scent?” “What you don’t know the difference between our scents and those of humans?” “Well um no…” “Aren’t you a full vampire?” “No…” “Oh my Go-” “Please don’t use that word in vain…” “Oh sorry, but your eighteen and you still haven’t sucked a humans blood?” “No, I haven’t had any reasons too. The one time I was going to he was attacked by an animal.” “Oh my, that is horrible. Well maybe you will have the chance to do that tonight.” “Maybe.” “Oh by the way my brother will be there, and he is very interested in meeting you.” “Oh don’t tell me you’re setting me up with your brother?” “Well he is a vampire and you’re vampire.” “Yeah you have a point but I have no idea who he is though.” “Don’t worry I will introduce you.” “I guess… Oh well here we are.” “So since you haven’t fully transformed yet you don’t know of the power of persuasion?” “Well I know about it but yeah I can’t use it, actually I can just it doesn’t always work.” “Wow really?” Yeah, it is weird I know…” “I think it is pretty cool actually because you can do things other vampires can’t.” “Yeah I know I am a freak?” “No your not and being normal is so over rated.” “Haha maybe your right but only.” “Good enough for me. Hey look a parking spot!” I turned into the empty spot and parked the car.
“So this brother of yours, is he meeting us here?” “Yeah, actually he is right there.” I looked up and he was standing at the end of the car. “Wow when did he get here?” “Ha he likes to do this, he actually was following us the entire time.” “Whoa really?” “Yeah he is ‘sneaky’ like that.” I looked up at him: he was really tall, taller than his sister that was for sure. He had the darkest eyes on a vampire I have ever seen. He had black hair that covered half of his face kind a like a punk style I have seen in magazines. He walked over to my door and taped on the window, I rolled down the window. “Ma’am can I see a license and registration?” “Ha why?” “For being too fine.” “Ha does that really work on girls?” “You tell me?” “Hmm needs some work. Jacqueline you didn’t tell me your brother was a flirt.” I looked over to her to see her shrug. I turned off the car and he opened my car door. “Thanks you…uh I don’t know your name.” “It is Jack.” “Nice to meet you Jack I am—” “Veronica Price, 18, about 5’9” and the most beautiful silver hair I have ever seen.” “How did you know all of this?” “I am a vampire am I not? My job is to know who is who.” “Ha I guess so.” “So shall we go on in?” “Uh sure.” He gave me his arm and I accepted it.
We walked towards the line and then kept going, “Uh where are we going?” “In.” “But the line started back there.” “Yeah but darling you’re a vampire and us vampires don’t wait in lines. Just watch.” We went up to the bouncer and asked for our names. “Stone and Price we aren’t not the list but we are a different kind of VIP.” The he got this weird look on his face and stared directly into the guys eyes. “Oh yes of course, well go right on in.” “Thank you.” We walked past the bouncer and entered the club. “How did you do that?” “The vampire art of persuasion, why? Don’t you know how to do that?” “Well no, I am not a full vampire yet.” “What! You are 18 and you’re not a full vampire yet?” “Well no, the last time I tried it didn’t end so well.” “I see. Well we will have to find you a human tonight.” “Yeah we will see how that goes.” We walked into a dark room to a curtain, then Jack pushed the curtain and I could see purple lights and strophe lights flashing. We walked out onto a platform and I could see the dance floor full of people. People dancing on the floor, sitting at the bar and the couches this is truly a sight I have never seen before. “Wow.” “Are you impressed?” “Well yeah this is so cool, I never been anywhere like this.” “Well then let’s dance then.” He offered his and led me down the stairs onto the floor. We started to dance and I realized something, from the first time I saw Jack he hasn’t taken his eyes off of me. I looked around to see where Jacqueline went. I finally looked to the bar to see her sitting with three guys drinking with them. Well she didn’t waste anytime. I wonder who she will end up drinking from. “10 bucks on the blonde one.” I looked up at him, “How did yo—” “Mind reading my dear, one of my wonderful talents.” “Oh I see. Well I say the red head.” “Fine it is a bet.” I looked out of the corner of my eye to see a figure standing at the bar staring at me. “I see you finally noticed.” “What?” “The guy at the bar, he hasn’t taken his eyes off of you since you got here. He might be the ticket.” “But I don’t know who he is.” “Well get a move on.” He turned around to start dancing with some other girl.
I walked over to the bar and took a seat a couple stools away from the guy. I took out my cell phone and pretended to be txting. “Well I haven’t seen you around here before?” I looked up to see the guy leaning on the counter. This was the first time I fully saw what he looked like. He had a total surfer’s hair style, and speaking of his hair it wasn’t blonde like most surfers it was a deep red. He had dark green eyes and he wasn’t very tan for a guy who looked like a surfer. “Hello? Earth to cute chick.” “What oh sorry I must have spaced out. And cute chick?” “Well yeah, I find you very attractive.” “Oh really?” “So do you want me to get you a drink?” “Are you legal?” “No one more year, are you?” “No, three more years.” “Oh so we got a young one here then.” “Hey I know this is forward but do you want to get out of here?” “What?” “I said do you want to get out of here?” “Well wouldn’t your boyfriend be angry?” “No he is cool, and he isn’t my boyfriend.” “Ok then lets go, uh—” “Veronica.” “William.”
